Students in Action: Service Learning
At Broadview University, service- and applied-learning are core elements of every college program. In qualifying projects, students apply skills learned in the classroom on behalf of members of the community. The following are examples of these real-world experiences:
- Raising money for a local charity
- Helping families find suitable housing
- Developing a marketing plan for a business
- Working with seniors to record their stories
- Educating children on animal care
Certainly, there are great benefits for host organizations and the clients they serve. Equally powerful are the benefits experienced by our students. They practice professional skills, working for real clients. They develop valuable networking relationships. And they prepare to be, on every level, leaders in the community.
Can we help?
Do you know of a non-profit that could use the creativity, enthusiasm and energy of our students? Would your business like to host an applied-learning project or internship? Please contact the campus director or service-learning coordinator at a campus near you.
