Broadview University offers two programs that train students to become medical assistants. Both the diploma and degree programs prepare students for the Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) examination* and the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), respected credentials in the health care industry. What does a medical assistant do?
A medical assistant performs clinical tasks such as recording medical histories, taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination, performing laboratory tests, sterilizing medical equipment, administering injections and drawing blood.
Medical assistants also perform administrative tasks such as updating client records, filling out insurance forms, arranging hospital admissions, answering telephones, greeting patients and scheduling appointments.
